Guerlain Terracotta - Terra Inca Mosaic Compact Swatches and Review

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

Guerlain Terra Inca Mosaic Compact is a new addition to Guerlain's Terracotta Collection.  It is limited edition and retails for $69USD.  This weighs 0.98 oz, almost twice the size of Guerlain's previously released Terra Inca Sublime Radiant Powder (0.51 oz).  I also did an in-depth review of Terra Inca here.

The packaging for Mosaic is much simpler with a sturdy plastic compact.  This also does not contain a mirror or a brush.

Chanel Rose Platine Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner Swatches and Review

Monday, May 23, 2011

Rose Platine Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner was released in Chanel's Summer 2011 Collection. It retails for $29USD and is advertised as a "waterproof, smudge-proof eyeliner". When Ilse from TheUltimateMakeup first raved about this eyeliner, I knew it was on my list of things to check out.

I have a ton of eyeliners from MAC and Urban Decay but have yet to purchase one from Chanel.  In all honesty, I really thought $29USD was rather expensive for an eyeliner. I wasn't really blown away by any of the previous colors until Rose Platine made its appearance.

MAC Surf Baby Swatches and Review Part I

Sunday, May 22, 2011

Every spring season, MAC comes out with a very large collection and this year is no different.  MAC Surf Baby is set to launch on 5/26 but I have heard that Nordstrom will be selling it early on 5/25.  Surf Baby reminds me a lot of the Spring Color Forecast Collection which includes pigment stacks, bronzers, lipglasses, lipsticks, and eyeliners.  The big difference is in the packaging.  Surf Baby is inspired by beach themes, where the design is similar to those seen on surf boards.  I'm neutral with the packaging - I don't mind it but I'm not overly excited about it either.

Dior Electric Tropics Summer 2011 Collection: Rosy Tan Swatches and Review

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Aside from Aurora, I also had my eyes on Rosy Tan, the 5 Color Design Eyeshadow Palette from Dior's Summer 2011 Collection. I was told this is not limited edition and it retails for $58USD.  I have not purchased a Dior eyeshadow palette until Rosy Tan came along.

The quint comes in a glossy navy blue, sturdy plastic compact that can easily fit in the palm of my hands. Both of the eyeshadow palettes are made in France and contain 6g/0.21oz.

Dior Electric Tropics Summer 2011 Collection: Aurora Swatches and Review

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

When I first saw the promo ads for Dior's Electric Tropics Collection, I knew right away I had to get my hands on the Healthy Glow Summer Powder.  There are 2 shades offered, 001 Aurora and 002 Sunset.  Both of these retail for $46USD and can still be purchased online at Nordstrom or Dior.  Believe it or not, this is my first venture into Dior's face products. Aside from their mascaras, I have never had much interest in the brand's lipsticks/blushes/bronzers. This collection certainly changed my mind about Dior!

Aurora comes in a nice compact with a deep navy velvet pouch. The little slit on the top houses a Dior brush.

Burberry Lip Mist Natural Sheer Lipstick Sneak Peek

Friday, May 6, 2011

This year, sheer lipstick is the new trend from nearly every single major cosmetics brand.  Burberry recently launched 9 new Lip Mist Natural Sheer Lipsticks, each retailing for $30USD.  Normally I would be the first in line at the counter to check out the products and snap pictures like a paparazzi.  However, I've been extremely busy and will not be able to make a trip this time.  Kristy, the counter manager was kind enough to snap a swatch and sent it to me to share with you.

Please keep in mind these swatches are done with the store lighting.  It may not be the same under sunlight or florescent lights.

To see more swatches that are NOT done in stores, check out the following:

The fabulous Gaia from thenonblonde also has swatches here.

For those who want to see all 9 shades with swatches on the lips, Beauty By Poc has the best swatches here.

A glimpse into naturalNchicmakeup

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

It has been a little over a year since the launch of naturalNchicmakeup.  I had honestly forgotten the blog's 1 year anniversary back in March.  I guess you can say this is true to the saying "time flies when you're having fun". I've had the pleasure of interacting with so many wonderful and knowledgeable ladies in the beauty community. Starting and maintaining a beauty blog is such an interesting and exciting journey.  I'm definitely thankful for all of your support in the past year and I look forward to many more years to come.

Chanel Morning Rose Le Vernis Swatches and Review

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

There are 3 new Le Vernis Nail Colour released in Chanel's Summer 2011 Collection.  I first saw Morning Rose on Ilse's tweet and blog at theultimatemakeup.  If you have a chance, please check out her blog and youtube channel.  At first, I was really hesitant to purchase any of the nail colors from Chanel because the price did increase to $25USD and Morning Rose seemed like a dupable pink. However, I slowly changed my mind from seeing more swatches online.

Although I included a picture of Mimosa in the image, it quickly went back to the counter.  Mimosa was quite fussy and went on rather streaky even after 3 coats.  I know a lot of ladies out there can rock yellow n/p but it looked terrible on me.  I was so excited to give myself a pedicure with Mimosa but it ended up looking like I had a bad case of diseased toes!

Chanel Bronze Rose, Bronze Corail Swatches and Review

Monday, May 2, 2011

Chanel released 2 limited edition bronzing powders in the Summer 2011 Collection - Bronze Rose, and Bronze Corail.  Each of these retail for $50USD and are available at all Chanel counters/online. Both Sabrina from TheBeautylookBook and Amy from CafeMakeup have great posts on these here and here.

These weight 0.49 oz, a fair size for bronzers and blushes from Chanel. Each compact includes a mirror and a mini brush for application.  I would say the brushes are ok in the sense that they're not particularly the softest, but not terribly scratchy either.
