NARS Illuminator Photos and More Swatches: Super Orgasm, Laguna, Copacabana

Thursday, February 24, 2011

I placed myself on a waiting list at Sephora to make sure I get first dibs when they arrive. Lo and behold, they arrived much earlier than expected so I can now share with you the 3 new NARS Illuminators!  Please call your local Sephora counters as some of them may have them available now.  See my review of these here.

NARS Illuminator Swatches and Initial Review

NARS recently came out with 3 new shades to expand the Illuminator line. These are priced at $29USD and are currently available at NARS boutiques and online.  I have been super excited about these since the initial press releases.  What are illuminators?  According to NARS, these are "a collection of light-reflecting liquids that glide on to refresh and enhance the complexion to create a shimmering incandescence". I think of these as liquid sheer blushes/bronzers/highlighters.

Since I couldn't contain my excitement, I visited Sephora to seek out these beauties.  I was really disappointed to see the "coming soon" sign when I got to the NARS section. Luckily, a super helpful SA gave me a sneak peek of the testers.  Boy was I happy!

Wet N Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio Swatches and Review Part II

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Although I'm a neutral color lover, I wanted to try out Wet N Wild's bolder blue, green, purple, and black shades.  For those interested in seeing the lighter, more nude colors, see my previous swatches and review here. The other 4 trios I picked up at Walgreens also retail at $2.99USD each.

Wet N Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio Swatches and Review Part I

Monday, February 14, 2011

As you may have noticed, there aren't many drugstore products covered on naturalNchicmakeup.  This is primarily because I have had numerous bad experiences with DS make and skincare in the past.  More often than not, I find the eyeshadows sheer, chalky, and lacking quality overall.  Mind you this was years ago before the prices skyrocketed for most drugstore brands.  However, recently I've seen a lot of buzz on beauty blogs for the Wet N Wild eyeshadow palettes.  This certainly has piqued my interest so I made my way to Walgreens to find out why these are so coveted.

Wet N Wild has a wide offering of the Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio.  I picked up 8 of these for review and swatch purposes.  At $2.99USD a piece, I was definitely thrilled with the price.

I want to do a detailed and in-depth review so this will be broken into 2 parts.  The first part will focus on 4 neutral palettes.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Boy Dupes and Comparison

Saturday, February 12, 2011

Thursday 2/10 was a super exciting day for Chanel addicts like myself due to the exclusive release of Boy at Nordstrom.  I went up to the SA and happily exclaimed, "I'm here to pick up my Boy!". Fortunately she knew exactly what I meant but I still felt a bit silly saying it.

So for all my fellow Chanel lovers out there, can you guess which one is Boy from the lineup?

They all have black glossy tubes and are rather similar in size.  How about another clue?

Have you made your final guess? Which one is it?

MAC Wonder Woman Collection Swatches and Review: Mighty Aphrodite, Amazon Princess, and Spitfire

Friday, February 11, 2011

The two duo blushes in MAC's Wonder Woman Collection are Mighty Aphrodite and Amazon Princess.  These retail for $24USD for 11g, roughly twice the size of a regular blush at $18.50. My personal favorite is Mighty Aphrodite which is also sold out online.  However, I believe these are still available at most MAC counters.

The blush duos comes in similar packaging as the MSF, a plastic red top and blue bottom. One big difference is the inclusion of a mirror in these compacts.

MAC Wonder Woman Collection: MSF Swatches and Review

MAC's Wonder Woman Collection offers two gigantic Mineralize Skinfinish products.  These retail for $35USD and are double the size of a regular MSF.   When I saw these in person, I was very surprised at how ridiculously big they are compared to a regular blush. I was looking forward to checking out Pink Power, the first product that was sold out online. Surprisingly it was also sold out at several local counters about 30 mins to 1 hr after the stores opened.

If you live in the Bay Area and really want to grab one, I recommend calling Francisco at Macy's (408-274-0391) and booking an appointment for this weekend's WW event.  I believe there may be more of these available. As of now, they're completely sold out both online and at Valleyfair freestanding store.

All of the products in this collection come in a white box with a picture of Wonder Woman in a fighting stance.  The name and symbol for Wonder Woman are printed in shiny gold letters.

MAC Wonder Woman Collection Swatches and Review Part I

Thursday, February 10, 2011

MAC's Wonder Woman Collection officially launched at all counters today.  I stopped by my Macy's counter to check out the products and packaging.  Initially I was ready to completely skip everything but a couple of pieces made me change my mind.  I'm personally indifferent towards the packaging because I didn't grow up watching Wonder Woman.  The color scheme directly correlates to the comic with red, white and blue.

Lipsticks ($15.50USD)
Marquise D' is a repromote from both the Red, Blonde, Brunette and Holiday 2007 Lip Set Collection.  It is a beige/pink color in the lustre formula.  This would be a nice color for those looking for a nude with a slight tint of color.
Heroine is a bronze brown in the frost formula.
Russian Red is a matte red that's part of the permanent collection.  If you don't care for the special packaging, save yourself $1 and buy it in the regular black packaging.
Spitfire is a magenta in the satin formula.  It is much darker compared to Athena's Kisses.

Lipglasses ($19.50USD) - These are double the size of MAC's regular lipglasses, where the wand is almost as big as my finger!
Emancipation is a pale pink that's somewhat similar to Devilishly Stylish from the Venomous Villains Collection.
Athena's Kiss is a bright fuchsia with pearl.  This color reminds me of Magnetique and Hot House lipglasses.
Secret Identity is a copper with pearl.
Wonder Woman is a glossy red with pearl.  This color also reminds me of MAC Wicked Ways from Venomous Villains.
