Dior Pre-Fall 2014 Collection Swatches and Review

Friday, July 11, 2014

Dior launched a pre-fall collection this year and it's currently available both online and at your local Nordstrom counters for the Anniversary Sale.  I'm not sure I understand the concept of "pre-fall" but count me in anytime there's a beautiful makeup collection.  Also, as some of you know, I'm a huge fan of Peter Philips so since his move to Dior, I've been keeping a close eye on the brand more so than before.  Alright, enough of the chit chat so let's get to my sneak peek of the collection!

Yves Saint Laurent 5 Color Couture Eyeshadow Palette Swatches and Review

Thursday, June 19, 2014

I am extremely picky when it comes to eyeshadows or eyeshadow palettes in general. Personally, if I were to spend my hard earned money on eyeshadows, the product should have good texture and great pigmentation.  I don't believe that I should put in extra effort (i.e change my primer, use it wet, use a specific type of brush) to make an eyeshadow "work". It doesn't make sense to me to try and make an excuse for a product that is not pigmented or have terrible texture.  No matter how beautiful the color, if it doesn't swatch well, even only 1 shade in a palette of 5, I will not purchase it.  This has become my personal rule for many years after making too many compromises in the past. With that being said, I am extremely happy and excited to share with you my latest discovery of YSL's latest 5 Color Couture Eyeshadow Palettes.

I don't know about you, but I'm amazed at how quickly time flies. It's already June! I'm looking forward to enjoying a nice warm summer with hopefully more downtime compared to last year.

Let's do a quick recap on my latest beauty adventures:

Burberry Summer Collection is now slowly coming to Nordstrom counters.  See full swatches and review here.

Chanel Fall Collection is also making its way to Nordstrom counters.  You can buy it on Chanel's website as well.  I'm a fan of Atmosphere and Orage nail polishes.  I may go back for Songe glossimer eventually.  See full swatches and review here.

Fresh released an awesome set called Flower Power that's exclusive to Sephora.  This is a steal I say! You get a full size lip balm (newest shade Tulip), 1oz of Rose Mask, 1oz of Lotus Face Cream, and a small Rose toner all for $48.  Grab it quick before this limited edition set runs out.

Tweezerman has a handy little manicure set, also a Sephora exclusive that I absolutely love.  I discovered this by accident when I was searching for a cuticle pusher online.  Highly recommend this kit.

Benefit will soon release a new eyeliner to help clumsy folks like myself achieve an easy, beautiful cat eye. I'm excited. I can't wait for the Push Up Liner to release on 6/27.

Lancome released a limited edition collection with Jason Wu.  It's screams "fall weather" to me.  The blush and highlighter duo is pretty in the pan but quite sheer when I swatch them.

Aesop is a brand that I wish I knew about when I was in Australia.  I'm slowly discovering the brand and so far, I'm loving the Parsley Seed Mask.

Bobbi Brown released lots of different lipstick shades for you to choose from.  I love the display. It's so colorful!

What's happening in your neck of the woods? What are some of your recent loves and discoveries?

Chanel Fall 2014 (Collection États Poétiques) Swatches and Review

Sunday, June 15, 2014

For the past several years with Peter Philips at the helm, I have always looked forward to seeing Chanel's Fall Collections. He always manages to put together a cohesive set of colors that go well together to prepare us for the cooler weather.  This year, I'm not sure Collection Etats Poetiques is the work of Peter Philips as it feels a bit confusing and rather uncoordinated.  Before I get into the reasons why I feel this way, let's get to the good stuff and show you some of the items in this collection.
